7 Ways To Clean An Iron Soleplate

When it comes to ironing, you basically have two choices. If you do not like ironing or do not want to struggle with burned cloth, you are better off choosing a garment steamer, It is the best option for long curtains or quick and easy ironing situations. 

But if you like perfectly pressed cloth and lines, regular iron can do it for you perfectly. Irons, like every other appliance, can get old and used over time. You may notice rust on the bottom of the iron, and your iron can also collect mineral deposits from water used in a steam generator, causing unsightly stains on your clothes. Dirt and burned fabric on soleplate can cause stains and black marks on your perfectly cleaned clothes. So, if your wardrobe and your appearance matter to you, you need to set up a regular cleaning schedule for your iron. This will help extend its lifespan and also protect your clothes from accidental damage or any black marks. The good news is that you do not need any chemical cleaners to do this. 1. White Vinegar

White vinegar is a magically beneficial solution. Mix it with a little water, then soak a clean towel or napkin in it. Do not worry; to remove old, strong, resistant stains, put a napkin or towel on the iron plate for 15-20 minutes. Then wipe it with another tissue until it disappears completely.

You can even clean out your steam hole. Mix the solution of one part vinegar with one part distilled water, which does not contain any minerals. Pour it into your iron steam chamber, plug it in, and set your iron on cotton mode with a high steamer. Push rapidly on the steam button several times. It helps to release all the water sediment.

2. Toothpaste to Clean Iron Soleplate

Spread some toothpaste on the soleplate of the iron, and cover it well with cling wrap. After a short time, with the help of a damp cloth, clean the sole of the iron well from the toothpaste until no traces remain. Be careful not to plug it in and use it until it is completely dry!

3. Baking Soda Mixture

Use a mixture of baking soda and water to get rid of every stain, dirt, and sediment.

Mix 2 parts baking soda and 1 part water to make a cleaning paste. Then apply the mixture with a towel or cloth and clean the iron soleplate, rubbing any dust or stains.

Let the baking soda remain for 10 minutes. Apply a thicker layer to any area with mineral deposits, then wipe them away with a clean, damp cloth.

4. Nail Polish Remover

You may be surprised, but acetone or nail polish remover pads can clean the fabric stuck to the iron soleplate. By rubbing these pads over the dirt on the surface, you can give a beautiful shine to your iron soleplate.

Then clean the surface of any moisture with a dry cloth or towel.

6. A Plastic Knife

This method works for immediate action; as soon as you notice that the sole of the iron is burned, unplug the iron and prepare an ice cube. Put ice on the burn to dry the dirt quickly and completely, then remove it without making a mess and in the best possible way. After cooling, gently scrape away the bottom of the iron with a sturdy plastic knife or a dull plastic edge until it’s completely clean. Of course, if the stain and dirt are old and hardened, clean the sole of the iron with a plastic knife without putting ice on it.

7. Ironing a Newspaper With Salt

This is one of the most famous methods of cleaning the soleplate! To do this, pour one or two tablespoons of salt on a newspaper sheet. Turn on the iron, then set it to the highest setting and wait until it is completely hot and ready. and go over the surface with a hot plate. 

Remember Instead of tap water, pour distilled or boiled water into the iron tank to prevent the iron from getting sedimented.

Once in a while, after finishing ironing, let the machine cool down. Then, use a cotton swab (Q-tips), wet in water and dishwashing solution. dip in it into the steam holes of the iron sole to prevent the holes from getting sedimented. This way, the iron stays in good condition for a longer time.
